Microsoft has finally disclosed the European and UK pricing for its latest Xbox console adjustments, and the hikes are substantial. Announced initially with US-only figures in June, the new prices show increases of up to €200 or £170 depending on the model. The 1TB Xbox Series X with a disc drive will now retail at £669.99 / €799.99, up from £499.99 / €599.99—a jump of over 30%. Meanwhile, the 512GB Xbox Series S sees an even steeper rise of more than 43%, moving from £299.99 / €349.99 to £429.99 / €499.99. While other console makers have also adjusted prices due to soaring RAM and storage costs driven by AI industry demand, none have matched the scale of Microsoft's increases.
TechnoVibes Opinion
This aggressive pricing strategy reflects the broader impact of AI-driven component shortages on consumer hardware. Gamers in Europe and the UK will feel the pinch, and it may accelerate the shift toward cloud gaming and subscription services.
