Sunbird Messaging has made a comeback on the Google Play Store, allowing Android users to enjoy blue bubble privileges in iMessage conversations, complete with reactions and high-quality video support, for a monthly fee of $2.99.
While Apple and Google have improved cross-platform messaging with RCS support, Android users still face issues in iMessage group chats, such as broken reactions and replies. Sunbird aims to bridge this gap by offering a seamless iMessage experience on Android.
According to Android Authority, Sunbird shut down nearly three years ago due to security concerns. The company now claims its revamped infrastructure addresses those issues, stating that "Any message moving through our infrastructure is protected in transit and released once it's delivered."
The relaunch marks a significant step for Android users who have long sought full iMessage integration. However, the subscription cost and past security issues may give some potential users pause.
