Koray Kavukcuoglu, formerly the CTO of DeepMind, is being promoted to Senior Vice President of DeepMind at Google, reporting directly to Pichai. Kavukcuoglu will also retain his role as Google's chief AI architect, ensuring continuity in the company's AI strategy.
Pichai emphasized his long-held belief that the primary application of AI should be to improve human lives, a vision that these leadership changes aim to further. The restructuring is seen as a move to streamline AI efforts across Google and Alphabet, positioning the company for continued innovation in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
